For most people their way of being fit and slim is through the intake of diet pills. Diet pills where first introduce in the year 1940’s. Have you ever tried diet pills that have hoodia? Since the start of 2002 Hoodia diet pills has been one of the most popular diet pills because it is said that hoodia is natural appetite suppressant. But what is hoodia? Hoodia is a cacti form plant found in South Africa and Namibia . Its flesh has been long used by the local people of South Africa and Namibia as a medication for indigestion and as an appetite suppressant.
The active ingredient of hoodia is P57. It is this ingredient that suppresses the appetite. Synthesizing this product is very difficult. The chemicals used in the process of obtaining P57 are very harmful for the liver. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have not given yet the approval for hoodia as an ingredient for diet pills. A few years back, I got this terrible acne. It was so gross I didn’t even want to go out of the house. Luckily, the school year has just ended and I wasn’t required to attend classes. My friends would often tease me and call me names like “pimple face” or “girl with AIDS (Acne-In-Different-Sizes).” It really sucked.
Anyway, after a few weeks of sulking at home, I finally went to see a dermatologist for the proper medication. After days of continuous acne treatment, the pimples finally disappeared. I only had acne for only few weeks but it felt like years. Thank God the nightmare’s over. I didn’t have major acne problem ever since.
My mom was considering getting a life insurance. Though she was already old, she said that it was never too late to be prepared. Actually, her age was not an issue, for anyone can get life insurance (unless you’re dead :> ) Anyway, the only problem she encountered was that she was afraid of needles and some of the procedures required in applying for life insurance is to give a sample of your blood.
So there, once again, I tried researching online and the good news is I found out that there are companies that offers no exam life insurance. This means that a person can receive real coverage without the hassle of having to provide urine or blood samples. It also said that the benefits will not be reduced or changed despite any change in the age, occupation or health. I told my mom about it and she said that she will think about it
This is just not my day. I’ve talked to my aunt this morning and I’ve just learned that my cousin (her son) has abdominal cancer or as the doctors termed it, “Abdominal Mesothelioma”. My cousin worked in construction and was often assigned in fieldwork. Being in construction, he was exposed to a material called asbestos, which is often used in this kind of industry. As it turned out, exposure to this kind of material, especially if inhailed or ingested may cause the development of malignant cells which eventually may lead to cancer.
What was scary in my cousin’s situation was he was first misdiagnosed since the symptoms of the cancer was similar to that of intestinal flu. Luckily, he went to another doctor to get a second opinion. They were still able to detect the cancer in its early stage which is a good thing because chances of recovery are larger when early detected. I felt really bad for him. He was such a good person and doesn’t deserve a blow like this. I’ll be constantly praying for him and hope that .he will recover soon.
Hepatitis is a disease that means there is injury to the liver and presence of inflammatory cells in the liver tissue. There are some shocking facts about this disease and unfortunately the awareness of this disease is far too low at the moment. The disease is spread quickly because people are unaware that they are infected and this is purely down to lack of knowledge.
500 million people worldwide are currently infected with Hepatitis B or C
This is over 10 times the number infected with HIV/Aids
Between them, Hepatitis B & C kill 1.5 million people per year
One in every three people on the planet have been exposed to either or both viruses
Most of the 500 million don’t even know they are infected
With these shocking facts isn’t it about time that we all did something about it. The awareness for this disease is simply too low. It has no where near the level of awareness that HIV/Aids has and this is the reason that the disease is spreading fast. The World Hepatitis Alliance are asking for people to sign up and support their campaign and to receive more information just go to this site http://www.aminumber12.org
